The former Funky Bunch member has realized, right along with the rest of us, that staying together and keeping a relationship going is hard work, but is committed to staying the course. Walhberg at one time broke up with partner Rhea Durham, who is the mother of two of his children. The couple, now very much back together, are expecting a third child together in a matter of months. The two are planning on getting married at some point after being on and off again several times over the years. Wahlberg admits that walking away from the relationship was a mistake. It takes a strong person to admit mistakes and an even stronger one to try to work them out. Harder still is staying together in the Hollywood climate. Couples seem to get together and break up with the weather, even when there are children involved. Kudos to Wahlberg for not giving up (Durham too–she could have said no to getting back together). As Wahlberg said in his own words, “…going away doesn’t make it work.” Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
Dylan is Kelly’s baby daddy
Filed under: Babies, Love & sex, Pregnancy & birth, Rumors, That’s entertainment OK, so perhaps this is just for fun, but, uhm, for those of you who DIDN’T watch the new 90210, we thought you’d like to know once and for all who Kelly’s baby daddy was. Some speculated it was bad boy Dylan, some that it was good boy Brandon. Some I am sure speculated it was Jake from Melrose Place (hey, some of us are even more nostalgic than others). Turns out the daddy is Dylan. And, can I just say a little something about Luke Perry? While most of the cast of 90210 have aged favorably, this man, who was an adult clearly posing as a high school student (and poorly), is looking F-I-N-E fine. He really has aged wonderfully. Why is it that the men always get better looking with age? Jenny Garth is looking pretty good herself. Her stint on Dancing with the Stars really seems to have given the mom a new lease on life (and hotness). So there you have it, what you’ve been waiting to know all this time. Or not. But look, you know you watched the original 90210, at least for a little while. You may not have watched it to the end, but admit to yourself that when it was on television you stopped by to check out what was happening, even if only during the commercials for another show. Like it or not, 90210, and Kelly, and Dylan, are a part of our cultural upbringing. Yes. Scary, but true. Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
Give your kid a green thumb
Filed under: Fun & activities, Eating & nutrition A few weeks ago, in a fit of optimism, I shoved some some bean and peas seeds into my autumn garden. There may be time for one more crop before the first frost, and with Hurricane Ike sending rain all the way up our way, it may be wet enough too. It’s not so much that we need another round of veggie crops, it’s that growing these two particular foods this summer has actually turned my kids on to eating vegetables… you know… as a food group. When I was a kid, my mom used to joke that the peas never actually made it to the stove top. That’s because we’d eat them right out of the garden or feast on them while we shelled them for dinner. Our vegetables came from the garden, fruit from local orchards, our eggs from my aunt’s chicken coop, and our meat from a local farmer. But somewhere between now and then, something important about how we feed ourselves got lost. It’s my intention to find it again with my own kids.Continue reading Give your kid a green thumb Permalink | Email this | Comments
Belly dancing for the maternity crowd
Filed under: Just for moms, Pregnancy & birth, Fun & activitiesIt seems a group of women near Milwaukee, Wisconsin are really putting the belly into belly dancing. Belly dancing has become a popular form of exercise, aided, no doubt, by the gyrations of pop singer Shakira, and pregnancy apparently doesn’t represent a barrier to joining in. In fact, it can be a fun way to stay strong while pregnant.”It just sounded like an interesting way to exercise and move your body,” said Marie Ponder, who is seven months along with her first. “There is walking and going to the gym and doing elliptical work, but that doesn’t sound appealing at all when you’re pregnant,” she said. “It’s funny, because you think of being pregnant as being swollen and big and you gain weight. But it actually makes you feel in touch with your body and makes you feel sexy.”According to Michelle Douglas, a doctor of osteopathic medicine, exercise “can help with a lot of musculoskeletal pains women experience when they’re pregnant, such as low back pain. And it can possibly give you an easier, shorter labor and less depression. If your body is more fit, your body will endure more and be able to bounce back.”I’ve seen a fair number of belly dancers perform who didn’t fit the traditional teenage boy’s idea of a belly dancer and they were actually quite good and a lot of fun to watch. If there are classes in your area, it might be worth looking into as a fun way to keep in shape. Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
