Newsflash - Brad Pitt is a great father
Filed under: Pregnancy & birth, Money & work, Siblings, Life & style, Celeb parenting, Childcare, Media, That’s entertainmentYou know, I might just about be on Jolie-Pitt overload. I am just about up to here (am point to my post-pregnancy double chin or perhaps my neck) with how great they are, how philanthropic and what good parents they are to their ever-expanding brood of babies. I am almost starting to believe it’s true! Pitt is starring in the upcoming holiday-release The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a movie whose title certainly has me, well, curious. His costar, the beautiful Taraji Henson, is eager and ready to confirm what all of us regular folks are loathe to admit is true–Brad Pitt is a great father. Well, at least he is in her eyes. According to Henson, Papa Pitt made special time for each kid every day–either that or Angie or his parents did–on the movie set. No nannies were in sight. They were all probably cowering from the angelic light emanating from Angelina’s next-to-godliness. Seems like Brad not only likes his children but actually wants to spend time with them. I have yet, however, to hear of any costar comment on seeing him or Ange changing a poopy diaper. They may trick-or-treat with their kids and parade them around whichever town they’ve invaded while shooting whatever wanna-be blockbuster they have on their very full schedules, but when are the tabloids going to bedazzle me with a pic of Brad and a smelly poopy? And just so you know, I don’t really think you have to be seen in public changing a diaper disaster to be a good daddy. From what I can tell that Pitt character is the real thing. I mean, he can’t be acting–although it is more believable a part, then, say, when he was in that vampire movie…(no, not Twilight). Henson also commented positively on how down to earth her costar was, insisting that she meet Angelina when Ange showed up on the set with Shiloh. Sigh. I guess some people really do have it all. Matt Lauer’s divorce makes for an awkward moment
Filed under: Love & sex, Divorce & custody, Celeb parentingWhen Matt Lauer and Meredith Vieira started a segment on marriage this morning, Meredith quickly got herself in a sticky situation. The question was: What is the right age to get married? Meredith shared her own experience, then asked Matt how old he was when he first took that big step.Matt stammered, Meredith blushed, and a cameraman yelled, “Niiice!” Matt’s been divorced once, and he and his second wife separated in 2006. The couple has now reconciled. (See the video here.)While this was clearly an embarrassing, yet forgivable, faux pas between two friends, I’m wondering, what is the proper etiquette when someone has been married before? I have several friends who had early, short marriages that ended in divorce and are happily remarried now. It rarely comes up in conversation, but what do you do when you accidentally bring it up? Or unwittingly make them admit to it in mixed company? In the case of my friends, it depends on the situation. Some still have hard, painful feelings, while others can joke about their impulsive youth. So while Matt laughed off Meredith’s mistake, some friends might not be able to see the humor in the situation. How do you handle things when married friends have been divorced before? Angelina’s babies have personality
Filed under: Newborns, Babies, Pregnancy & birth, Siblings, Development, Celeb parenting When do babies get personality? Some say it doesn’t hit until toddler-dom while others say it happens in the womb. Angelina Jolie seems to think it’s around four months. The Hollywood starlet says of the two latest additions to her ever-expanding brood that her twins are smiley. Yes, little Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline are already four months old. Mommy Ange claims they’re really starting to come into their own, their personalities really starting to shine through. That sounds about right to me. I remember my son really started to, er, blossom (to keep up with the metaphors) when he was about three months. Now that I’m on baby number two, though, it seems like she’s had personality–and one very different from her brother’s–since she was conceived. I’m sure Angelina has picked up on the twins’ nuances a lot more and a lot earlier now that she’s already been through the process with Shiloh and watched her older kids develop. Real question is, what kind of personalities do the twinnie’s have–and will we/the proud parents like them as they develop? Will the kids be mini-philanthropists? Hard to say. Most likely they’ll all want to go into show business like their parents, who will try to steer them clear of such things but eventually give in anyway. Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
