Rumer Willis caught up in drug bust
Filed under: Moms, Dads, Celebrity kids, Celebrity parents, Drugs, AlcoholDemi Moore’s eldest daughter Rumer may not do drugs, but it appears that some of her friends do. The 18-year-old budding actress was in a room at the La Quinta Inn in Aberdeen, Maryland, when the cops showed up, responding to a noise complaint reported by another guest. They smelled marijuana before even entering the room and once inside, discovered a “small amount” of pot and smoking paraphernalia. The room was registered to 32-year-old Christopher Alan Henry, who was arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession. Rumer is in town working on the film From Within and Henry works on the set as a key grip. He was the only one arrested and police say the case is closed.Rumer may be breathing a sigh of relief, but she still has to face dad, Bruce Willis. He recently told Playboy Magazine that his daughters have been warned about experimenting with drugs and that alcoholism runs in the Willis-Moore family. “We have an ongoing conversation,” he said. “They have the gene, and we warn them: ‘You have a predisposition to be an alcoholic.’ It’s on her side of the family and mine. It’s something to be aware of. My kids are strongly antidrug.”I don’t know how Rumer is going to explain this away. If the cops could smell marijuana outside of the hotel room, there is no way that girl didn’t know what was going on inside. I sincerely hope she can avoid the drug and alcohol pitfalls that seems to trap so many young girls in Hollywood these days. Perhaps Rumer needs to hightail it back to Hailey, Idaho before it is too late.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Bread containing metal pieces recalled by Sara Lee
Filed under: health and SafetyIf you use Sara Lee bread to make your children’s sandwiches, take caution. The company announced today that they’re recalling Earthgrains, Sara Lee Delightful Wheat and many other brands because the bread may be full of small metal pieces. It apears that, at least as of yet, no injuries have been reported as result of the contaminated loaves. However, the company acknowledged that this possibility exists, after recently discovering damage to one of their wheat flour sifters. Any bread purchased with “best if purchased by” dates between July 25 and August 7, from Mississippi, Alabama, most of Arkansas, southeastern Missouri, western Georgia, southwestern Tennessee, southeastern Louisiana and the panhandle of Florida is subject to recall, and can be returned to store where it was purchased for a full refund. For a full list of affected brands, you can read the Sara Lee press release on the Food and Drug Administration’s website.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Whatever happened to that kid from Home Improvement?
Filed under: Celebrity kids, RumorsRemember Taran Noah Smith, the youngest of Tim “the Tool Man” Taylor’s kids on Home Improvement? Zachary Ty Brian and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (who played Smith’s older brothers on the show) have gone on to have moderate success in the entertainment industry — but has seemingly fallen off the planet. So what happened? Apparently after he married a 33-year-old woman at the age of 17 (in a ceremony with mood rings instead of wedding bands), and battled with his parents for control of a $1.5 million trust fund, the actor’s life spiraled into chaos. Taran and his new wife Hedi decided to make a living by starting PlayFood, a vegan cheese company — but after Heidi decided she was attracted to women, and the two unsuccessfully tried to navigate an “open marriage,” Taran found himself battling with his ex for control of PlayFood — with he and Heidi both claiming the other was stealing the company’s money. In the meantime, she’d moved back to Missouri and moved in with a 20something musician while the bank foreclosed on the couple $1 million home in the LA suburbs — a property which had fallen into such a state of disrepair that TMZ said: “The wreckage inside was breathtaking.” And you thought your life was weird. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch a Home Improvement re-run again. Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Boy robbed at his lemonade stand by two teens
Filed under: 10-12 years, Creative projects, BullyingThere are some crimes that appear to be particularly heartless. One Wisconsin boy experienced such a crime when two teens robbed him of his profits at his lemonade stand. Young Austin Cundy, 11, of Oshkosh was selling lemonade to raise money for a camping trip and a birthday present for his mother when two teenage boys riding bicycles swiped his profits. The two older bullies scoped out Cundy’s stand and then later rode by and punched him before taking his plastic container of cash. The police later recovered the container, minus the cash. One of the boys was taken into custody. When asked, Cundy said he is a bit gun shy at the thought of doing another lemonade stand. However, the community is rallying around the boy and offering him space at their businesses to sell lemonade.Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Trista and Ryan have a baby
Filed under: Celebrity babies, Celebrity kids, Celebrity parentsRemember Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter? After becoming engaged on the the reality show The Bachelorette, these two were everywhere. You couldn’t turn on the television or read a magazine without seeing them cooing over each other and declaring their undying love. The whole thing was a little too much for me and I lost interest way before their much-hyped, televised wedding in 2003.The Sutters have been awfully quiet lately and now we know what they have been up to. Trista just gave birth to their first child, Maxwell Alston Sutter, who weighed in at 5 pounds and 3 ounces. While their lives do seem to be charmed, getting pregnant didn’t come so easily. “It took us a long time to get pregnant so it makes it that much sweeter,” Trista told US Weekly. “It’s my dream to be a mom.”According to TMZ, her delivery didn’t quite go as planned, either - Maxwell was born four weeks early via C-section. Happily, mom and baby are reported to be doing just fine.I am somewhat surprised - and heartened - to hear that they are still together and have started a family. I guess sometimes fairy tales do come true. Congratulations to the Sutters!Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
